There is no specific way or need for a first time charge. Charge it when and if its convenient for however long it's convenient. You can start to use it immediately after taking it out of the box.

It is however recommended you turn on Optimize Battery Charging from Settings->Battery->Battery Health, and charge it overnight while you sleep. This will reduce the battery cycles and extend the life of the battery.
