Where am I timewise in an iMovie Clip

I have videos from my drone flying the exact same route, at the same altitude and speed. The flight length is about 150 seconds. I did this each month for a year. I want to create a movie with say 15 seconds of mid winter, then 15 seconds of late winter then 15 seconds of mid spring and so on. Each clip would morph into the next creating a “flight through the seasons". I’d like to keep the segments consistent to make an even flow.  The videos do NOT start at the exact same place in the route.


Is there a way to determine how many seconds one is into a clip before splitting it?

There is a timer just above the timeline that tells you how many seconds that the playhead has progressed in the overall timeline. For each separate clip as the timeline plays along you would need to keep track of the in-point time and out-point time as it passed into and out of each clip. You can click along the time line to place the playhead at different points, and read the elapsed time at that point.



Probably the easiest way would be to use a separate project to edit each clip. That way the timer will start at zero and progress to the end of the clip. After you have trimmed the clip to your specifications, do an Edit/Copy, Edit/Paste of the edited clip into a master project. Repeat the process for each clip. The original edits will carry over, although you can modify them in the master project.
