Mail stopped working after update to iPadOS 15.2

iPad 6th generation. Updated to 15.2. Launched email. See attached for the result. Spent 3 hours with tech support. No joy. Thought we had found a workaround, but that stopped working. Anyone else having this problem?

I suggest two things in this order:

  1. Settings > Mail > Privacy Protection > Protect Mail Activity = “off”
  2. If that works, great. If not:
    1. Close the Mail app. Close an app on your iPad - Apple Support
    2. Start the Mail app again
    3. If it works, consider reinstating Protect Mail Activity
