Apple Watch shows the media controls (play pause forward) every time I listen to music/podcasts on my car connected to the CarPlay. This makes the screen to be constantly on draining battery. How to solve this?

Hi there btk1017,

Thanks for taking the time to join us in Apple Support Communities! We understand you're asking how to turn off media controls on your Apple Watch when listening to music with CarPlay. We're glad you're here, and we can provide some guidance.

"If you don’t want Now Playing to open automatically, you can turn it off. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and tap the My Watch tab. Tap General, then tap Wake Screen and turn off Auto-launch Audio Apps." Have a look at this link to learn more:

Take care!

Thanks! My issue is geared towards CarPlay in specific because I have the access to all my media controls in the car, but your solution can help.

Just a correction: the path is actually My Watch > Screen and Brightness > Wake Screen, think it changed recently.

Another thing I’ll try is testing other config in My Watch > Screen and Brightness > Always-on Display > Show Apps > Turn off Now Playing.
