Bedside mode flipping with watch face while charging

My watch flips between bedside mode and watch face every 10-30 seconds while charging

Apple Watch Series 1, watchOS 6

It would seem that the Watch is not consistently charging, that would be the only reason. The Watch only comes out of the bedside mode when the charger is removed. Clean the charging puck and the back of the Watch and try again. Do you hear the charging tone when you see this change on the Watch.
