Send with existing Hide My Email address

If you sign-up with a website using a Hide My Email address, how do you send a reply message with the same address? It seems it is only possible to create a new random Hide My Email as a response.

When I hit 'Reply' to an email, it will send from the address I would like hidden and CC's the existing Hide My Email address, which is not as useful.

I had this discussion a couple of weeks ago with the Apple engineers.

Before iphone iOS update to 15.2:

When you reply to an HME, you see your address in the from field - BUT as this goes through Apple's system, it is hidden and the recepient does see only the HME.

AFTER Update IOS 15.2 and Montrrey 12.1 - these updates resolve this and you can see the HME when you reply!

i know I sent in feedback that the HME was incredibly valuable to see in the sent folder, so you can manage your activities. They probably already had this planned since it's in the last updates.

After the update I hit reply from an Amazon email I'm using HME currently and unique HME address will show.

My suggestion: get your updates and you can see and manage with confidence. Until that, it does work when you reply despite not seeing the HME. The only thing to be careful is if you have discussion threads with the merchant - be sure to keep those straight too as you usually would.

Hello b-i-g-s-m-i-t-h,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

If we understand your post correctly, if you sign up to a website using the Hide My Email, how do you reply to the message using that same email address that Hide My Email created. We're happy to help!

"Set up and use Hide My Email on your Mac

Your device must have macOS Monterey 12 or later.

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences.
  2. Make sure you’re signed in with your Apple ID. If you are, you see your name at the top of System Preferences. If you don’t see your name, click the Sign In button.
  3. To keep your personal email address private, do any of the following:
    • In Safari: Open a website, click in an email field, then click Hide My Email to generate a new random email address or use one you’ve already created for the website.
    • In Mail: (macOS Monterey 12.1 or later) Open a new message window. In the From field, choose Hide My Email in the pop-up menu.
    • In System Preferences: Click Apple ID, click iCloud in the sidebar, then click Options next to Hide My Email. You can see and manage all your unique, random addresses.
  • For more information about Hide My Email on your Mac, see Hide your personal email address in Safari on Mac in the Safari User Guide for Mac, Use Hide My Email in Mail on Mac in the Mail User Guide for Mac, and Use Hide My Email on Mac in the macOS User Guide."

Hello b-i-g-s-m-i-t-h,

According to the article, Hide your personal email address in Safari on Mac, there isn't an option to reply to that message using the address you used to send it. Therefore, you would have to start the process over and do the following:

  1. "In the Safari app  on your Mac, when a website asks for your email address, click the email address field.
  2. Choose Hide My Email.
  3. A unique, random email address is suggested. Email sent to the address is forwarded to your real email address.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • Get a different email address: Click the Refresh button .
    • Use the suggested email address: Click Use."
