This is for all as according to apple should not happen. Have updated enough iPhones over the years.
Sorry like many of my generation - don't trust clouds!
- Note I don't use iCloud I use my iMac as a backup station.

Don't follow the steps putting old & new next to each other especially when old did not have the latest IOS took hours and result
not good.

How did you transfer the data from your old phone to new phone? While you can save app data if you did a backup on the Mac, the apps need to complete their download from the App Store. You need to keep your iPhone connected to wi-fi and to power. Once you have done that, force restart the iPhone and it should get the apps to start downloading again. I thought I did al that, wifi on and new phone connected to iMac by cable.
