Can FaceTime be used even when Lost Mode is activated on a stolen iPhone XR

iPhone XR was stolen last month. Reported it stolen to T-carrier and got a new phone with same number. I've just noticed lately that my data usage has increased when I'm mostly using wifi. I'd like to know whether the stolen iPhone can used for FaceTime even if Lost Mode is activated on the same day it got stolen? Not tech savvy and just worried where the data usage is coming from.

iPhone XR, iOS 14

Relative Looks Occur:

FaceTime sometimes sees someone else as the same person (a glitch, commonly reported on these forums).

So, Three Things to Do:

A. Deauthorize All Option:

Try Deauthorize All. You can only Deauthorize All items once every 365 days. So, you may have to wait up to a year before you can perform this.  Go Here: Authorize or Deauthorize your Computer for iTunes Store purchases - Apple Support

also...

B. Modify your Credentials:

Having so much suspicion, consider modifying your credentials, ASAP, starting with a new password.

C. Verify the Devices:

Thank you TheLittles for your reply.

I've set up a new password when I got the replacement phone. Under the Device Info, the stolen XR has "This device cannot be used to receive Apple ID verification codes." The T-mobile rep that helped me reassured me that whoever got the phone won't be able to used it. Now, I'm not so sure.

I've also activated the Erase data that same day which is still pending.

Q1. "Does removing (Deauthorized) the XR from my Devices would also permanently remove it from FMI (cancel the Lost/Lock Mode, pending Erase Mode) I activated?"

A1. No. But I makes if inactive from you account data. So, removing it from your account will no longer make it used by your account. If someone were to log into it unsuccessfully too many times, they would be locked out for good. That is a theft deterrent.

Q2. "Does it matter if I remove the XR from my new phone, iCloud, or appleid?"

A2. Yes. It does matter, because no one will have access to your account.

Q3. "Sorry if I sound repetitive and a worrywart. I'm really new to all these information and just trying to make sense of it all."

A3. No Worries. That's what these forums are here for.

"11ragdolls I asked about Question1 because I read somewhere in the forum that removing the XR from my account would mean cancelling: the FMI I activated in the first place. Therefore, making it easier for the perpetrator to factory reset the stolen phone or at the least, accessing the data inside. Thank you for your help."

You are welcome.

Correct: FindMy would be deactivated on your device, and no longer apply to your account.
