Why doesn't iOS cache the Home Sharing library?

I recently merged my and my wife's music libraries onto a central Mac, and then enabled home sharing on our iPads. While the technology works fine, the database is pretty large and every time the Music app gets swapped out from the iPad, it reloads the entire library index, taking several minutes.

It can't be that hard to cache the library on the iPad and only reload it if the master has changed. Are there any plans to fix this issue?
