SD card slot on MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021) M1 Max is reading slow and gets stuck

I have just gotten my MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021) M1 Max and tried to transfer files from my camera to it I have quite a few large files (± 50GB combined).

When I insert the SD card my finder does not produce previews or at least takes a few seconds to provide them and then gets stuck if I try to click through a couple of them.

It is taking 12' to transfer 20GB of data which is actually very slow in comparison to my late 2013 MacBook model.

Anyone gets the same issues? Any fixes?

Same problem with my wife's 2021 Mac M1 M1 PRO 14. Takes 2 minutes 30 seconds on my 3 year old Asus Laptop versus over 6 minutes on the new Mac M1 Pro, 5 minutes if you use an external card reader. This is for transferring video from a SanDisk SD HC1 class 10 card {90 MB/s} with around 6 gigabytes of Mp4 video files. This should not be happening with a $3500 computer. Probably will cancel my order on M1 Max {almost 5 grand}.

I'm having the same issue when I'm trying to import stuff into Lightroom, things take ages to preview in Lightroom during the selection even if it's only just 20 raw photos in the SD card. I don't get this problem in comparison with my windows desktop so there's something really wrong...

Update: I contacted Apple support and talked with their live support and ran some tests with screen share + diagnostics to send to the engineering team. Will have a response in the next few days or after the Christmas break.

I spoke to tech and they said they would move my concerns up chain. We shall see but not too optimistic.
