My mac is not syned to my iphones imessage, how do i fix

I was signed out of my apple Id across all devices, after recovering my account my iMessage is not synced to my mac from my iPhone, so my mac is not receiving any messages or notifications that my iPhone would. I made sure the apple ID was the same on both devices and even changed the imessage email on the mac to the main email linked to my iPhone.
