iMessage read status doesn’t sync

The read status of imessages doesn’t synchronize between iPad and iPhone.

We understand the status showing when messages have been read does not sync between your iPhone and your iPad. We'd like to help you get to the bottom of this.


First let’s make sure that Message in iCloud is enabled for both of those devices. To do this go to Settings and select your name at the top, then select iCloud. If Messages isn't turned on there tap it to turn it on. If Messages in iCloud is already turned on, or you still experience the same thing after turning it on, try out these steps on both your iPad and your iPhone next:


  1. Restart your iPhone and Restart your iPad. This is a simple step but it can resolve a lot of different issues like the one you're experiencing.
  2. Update your devices: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
