Can anyone lend some advise please on the issue I have. If my phone is silent I have no sound when playing games and scrolling social media, why?? I have just transferred from android and with Samsung you could do this. What am I missing here!?

thanks for the response, yes I can hear music when phone is on silent, but why are the games muted? Is this something that can be adjusted in settings??

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. If we understand correctly, your iPhone is in Silent mode and you're not hearing sound in games or in some other apps. Is that right?
This link covers How to put your iPhone on vibrate, ring, or silent mode. You should still hear some content, like music from the Music app, but some games and other apps will be muted when your device is in Silent mode. While what you're experiencing might be normal, it's worth testing in something like the Music app to make sure you hear audio as expected there, and to make sure your volume is turned up as well.

We appreciate the reply. What you're experiencing sounds normal. It would depend on exactly what you're looking to accomplish for your usage, but you could try using Do Not Disturb mode or Focus instead of Silent mode to see if that works better for you:
