Will a thin TPU keyboard cover damage the screen of a MacBookPro 16" 2021 ?

Will a thin TPU keyboard cover damage the screen of a MacBookPro 16" 2021 ? I've used thin keyboard covers and many MacBooks prior to 2020, but there are many posts that the newest MacBookPros screens are much more prone to this kind of damage. In the older MBP's, occasionally there was smudge from the KB cover, but it was always easily cleaned off, viz no damage.

Please share your experience or thoughts regarding the newest MBPs.

Thanks.

Hey, RAMSLOT!

Apple officially does not recommend using keyboard covers on your Apple product (see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203671). However, it may be worth looking further into and thinking as I think there’s a small chance that it won’t cause damage and Apple’s just trying to be as safe as possible, probably to avoid legal action.

If you really want to be safe, ask the vendor for specific information about any possible damage using a keyboard cover on a Macbook could cause.

Cheers!

Mr. Jones:

If a KB cover damages the screen because of pressure, then why does Apple sell screen protectors which intrude on that space?

Does this imply that if one uses a KB cover then a screen protector should also be installed? Very puzzling.

Thank you so much for that link. Have owned over 10 Mac laptops and never had any screen damage from a thin KB cover. Why use a cover? Because when I loan the unit not a household member, debris gets in between the keys and even under the keys.

Is there any documentation or pictures or videos of the damage caused by a thin TPU cover, such as Mosiso?
