seperating documents from desktop to back up on iCloud

Hi, is there a way to back up my documents on iCloud without backing up my desktop? (to seperate one from the other)

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.0

In Mac system preferences > Apple ID > iCloud Drive ( is turned on ) Use iCloud Drive to store documents on your Mac and iOS devices - Apple Support , click on options , the desktops and documents box is checked , it means what ever personal documents , or other data literally saved on desktop is saved in iCloud.com as well in finder > Documents , these are combinations , the desktops and documents individually can't split up ( as it's designed in this way only ) .

However the data literally on desktop screen can be dragged and dropped to some other location see the article Work with folders and files in iCloud Drive - Apple Support
