Does a family member have to live in the same home for family plan?

It sounds like you have some questions regarding Family Sharing.

Family members do not have to live in the same home as the Organizer of Family Sharing.

However, all participating members must reside in the same country/region as the Organizer.

This means if you are the Organizer, and your country/region of your Apple ID account is set to the United States, each other member you add to the FS must also have their country/region of their Apple ID set to the United States.

Another example:

If your region is set to the United States, and your cousin’s region is set to the United Kingdom, or Canada, Japan, etc you would not be able to invite them to join and use Family Sharing
