locked printer image while printing in imac

OK, so you have to be allowed by an administrator to print? Is that correct? That too is a standard method on a Mac for a non admin user to do administrator like tasks. In the case of the Mac, you either get an Administrator to enter his PW or you make the standard use an admin user.

Seems to me the problem is still with the server requiring Admin rights of the Mac user, just like the Mac standard user example. Which is pretty much a universal situation for non admin users.

What's to resolve? You're able to print and entering a user name and password is a standard authentication method.

This sounds more like a Windows Server problem than a Mac problem. The Mac is doing exactly what it should do; the server is requiring ID & PW.

is there no "Remember" selection for ID & PW?

What do you mean by a "Windows environment"?

From the Windows PC, you may see a reference to a Windows Workgroup or something like that, it's been a long time, but both Mac and PC can coexist on the same LAN without trouble.
