WHERE IS AUDİO VIDEO SETTİNGS FİNAL CUT PRO

hey there;

some sound effects don't play in my timeline I don't know why.. as I have researched I have to do

"If you can't hear the audio in your Final Cut Pro project, the sound may be directed to the DV deck. ... The pull-down menu next to "Audio Playback:" will be set to either Default or FireWire DV. Change this to the Built-in output setting. "

but in my Edit there is NO Audio Video Settings, there is NO pull down menu and where the heck is Audio Playback? I have searched every term and looked up to every video on Youtube and google, there is no answer.. I am so ****** this has taken my whole day I am so sorry... please help..

I'd try deleting the preferences.

To delete preferences, hold down command and option while starting FCP X and click Delete Preferences.

The application will start in a default state, and open an "Untitled" library. Reopen the library you were working on, set the preferences the way you like them, and try again.

The information you’re reading sounds as if it’s for an obsolete version of FCP. The sound output follows the system preferences swings.

What computer is this? How is the sound being monitored? Do the meters move when should is played back?

Just some sound doesn’t work? If so that might be something in the file.

As Luis suggested, reset the preferences. That should always be the first thing you do if FCP starts acting strangely.

Also, since you're using the trial and might be new to FCP, you can save yourself many, many hours of frustration by watching the free Izzy Video tutorials and the intro to FCP videos from The Final Cut Bro on YouTube.

Can you post a screenshot of the timeline with the problem audio? Check the audio configuration in the Audio inspector to make sure everything is set correctly.

It doesn't look like there's any audio in the sound effect clip. I can't see a waveform. Maybe it's extremely quiet? Or you've accidentally used the wrong part of the sound effect clip?

Also, just to confirm, you are running the latest trial version, which is 10.6.1, correct? There were audio waveform drawing issues in 10.6 which 10.6.1 fixed.

This is my very first question in the forum and first reply Tom thank you i appreciate it.

well it is a final cut pro latest edition trial version and i am using a macbook pro.

when i play the sound in the timeline; the meters dont move and i hear nothing, but when i play it from sound effects folder i hear the sound. For some of the sounds i hear the full sound in the effects folder but in the timeline i hear just the half of the sound. This has never happened to me before, i used to use these sound effects a lot like a year ago when i was editing, i took some time off and i began to edit again and i needed to update my fcp to a latest versio as the new system update on my mac forced me to do it but i had to download the trial version since i cannot pay for it now… actually everything else seems to work just fine in the trial version so i am not sure if it is the case.. this is the only problem in years that i couldnt find any solution in the internet … i found some answers as i mentioned before but i cannot find what and where they are talking about… thanks for your help in advance…

I dragged the full sound.. it is 12db

but when you said I tried again to drag it

here is a ss when i first dragged it we can see the waveform… when i play it in the timeline it still sound make any sound

Then i checked the db.. it showed 0db and i moved it up and made it 12db (top) and the waveform disappeared… like below

Very strange. Are you using any other keys while changing the volume? It's almost like you've slipped the media into the quiet area after the effect.

BTW, using command-shift-3 will take a screen shot.

I notice you have Chrome installed. It's a known bad player with the ProApps and interferes with the system's videotoolbox. I've not heard of it causing audio issues but it can damage FCP, requiring a reinstall after completely removing Chrome and its keystone daemons using the instructions at https://chromeisbad.com . Not saying Chrome is the problem in this instance, but it has caused deep problems with the ProApps for other users.

oh i have never heard of it.. i quit chrome. Maybe i ll uninstall it I dont really use it anyway…

as for an ss .. Thank you i know how to take ss on mac but airdrop didnt work to send it to my phone which is what i am using the write this down. But yeah i can send it from mail on my computer but i gotta login first…

this is so strange really… anyways i ll try a little bit more… maybe it really is about the trial version.. thank you so much for your time and help

I downloaded them from the internet. but as I said I used to use them a lot last year, I don't think it is about the sound file but of Course I am not an expert like you all, maybe I am wrong.

since this year I started editing again, I had to download trial FCP so I didn't have a chance to see if the sound effects were working perfectly fine with my previous FCP. therefore I cannot compare them right now but yeah the situation seems strange..

And sound effects sometimes work just fine, sometimes not at all and sometimes in half...

Thank you so much for your help.. I appreciate it. I think I better finish this video without playing around with things a lot I am afraid I might lose all the work I have done so far, but after I am done, I will try different options like some other friends suggested.

You keep talkig about your "previous FCP". If this was any version 10 or greater (i.e. not the "legacy" FCP 7 or before, which was more than ten years old), you do NOT need the trial, you can install the current version, free of charge.

Thanks for your suggestions I will keep them in mind. I will try to reset the preferences as Luis suggested, but tbh I am afraid at the moment, I dont want to lose any of my work done so far,

I better finish this video without playing around with things but after I am done with the video I will try it... and let you know if it has worked. Thank you

Deleting preferences DOES NOT affect your video.

The application will start in a default state, as I said, and open a library "Untitled".

Your existing library is intact, and you just have to open it and continue your work - hopefully, with the present issue resolved.
