Lost jingles in final cut pro 10.6.1

Make sure you close FCP after you install iMovie.

If they aren't in iMovie either I'd suggest asking on the iMovie forum.

This is what's in FCP on a system without iMovie

With iMovie installed there is a whole other folder called iLife Sound Effects or something that's in addition to the Final Cut Pro Sound Effects folder.

Mystery solved. I looked for jingles in sound effects and they are there, although there are less than before. Dream and fantasy, a jingle that I especially liked, for example, is not there anymore.

But jingles, divided into categories, were under Music before. Putting them in sound effects is very new and rather messy. I edited a video three weeks ago, before all the upgrades I did, and all jingles were in the music library.

I guess Apple wants to reserve that space for sales now. I wonder what will be their excuse. Something as preposterous and untrue as their claim that iPhones don't come with chargers anymore in order to save the environment. Meanwhile, millions of people who are buying iPhone for the first time will have to buy a charger separately, which means one extra paper package , extra fuel used in the delivery etc.

Actually they're in Library (not user library)/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Final Cut Pro Sounds Effects.

Just one last note: I never had an interest in iMovie and never liked it but I got the book because I checked the "look inside" and liked the way you explained final cut there.

I am happy now that I found my music again, under sound effects, not music which is the old iTunes where I would never look for my music...

Did you download the Additional Content from the FCP menu?

What jingles are you talking about? There are none that come with FCP. There are some that install with iMovie that will then appear in FCP.

Exactly, I have had the same idea and it works!

You have to install iMovie and then restart FCPX.

If you had iMovie years ago and kept updating your system from OS to OS they will still be there. That’s the most likely explanation, or they came from some other source. You can add any audio you want into the correct folder in Application Support and it will appear in FCP.

I just checked your book "from iMovie to Final Cut Pro x from 2017" and could see how it was before: Under the symbol of music scale we had photos, iTunes , sound effects etc. Now iTunes has been replaced by music and that's why I thought I used music before. It's just the word .

I bought your books and they are excellent so I am very surprised with your answer. I did not have iMovie but I had music. with jingles in final cut . How do you explain that? I haven't had iMovie in my Mac for years. What for? final cut X was an upgrade of iMovie, not final cut 7.

I was let down by Apple's support on another matter and upgraded from Catalina to Monterey trying to solve a problem. It didn't work. Actually, things got much worse so I downgraded back to Catalina, losing final cut in the process. I recovered final cut and then upgraded to Big Sur.

The result of all that mess is that I found myself without sound effects and music in final cut ! I did an update which reinstalled sound effects but not music. Something went wrong. I couldn't talk to Apple today as they are too busy so I came to the forums looking for an answer. I haven't find one yet.

Unfortunately, I don't have those categories in sound effects anymore. It's all together what makes it very difficult to find something. And also the reason why I couldn't find the music which is now in sound effects. Apple is neglecting final cut X on a regular basis and I am considering changing to DaVinci, despite the very bad experience I had with Blackmagic and their Ursa Broadcast camera, which was sold and advertised as a news/ENG camera but is a studio camera only.

I did. That's when I got sound effects. I just found out that they are categorised but it happened after I installed iMovie.

As for jingles they were always in music until recently. Many times I clicked on music to find a soundtrack I could use. I am puzzled. I really am.

Or maybe they were in effects but the design was different. There was a clear distinction between sound effects and music (jingles) before. One way to check that would be to go to my first books on final cut x but I don't have them anymore.

I have just downloaded iMovie . It's different from before. I checked on music. I have no music in iMovie. And I still have no music in final cut X

It all happened after I upgraded to final cut 10.6.1
