Text Messages are so **** loud!

Is there a way to separate the ringer volume from the text message volume? I want to hear phone calls so the volume is up but that makes my text super loud. Is there a way to fix this?

Ringer gets quieter after I pick up phone but still ringing I talked to Apple a couple years ago about this, but now forgot how to change. When my phone rings, and I pick it up the sound of the ringer gets quiter, still rings just not as loud. I don't want that, and there is a way to change it so, after phone is picked up it stays loud. Incoming text sounds for entire thread I would like my iphone 12 to receive the designated text sound I have chosen under sounds each time I receive a text message within a conversation. I always receive the designated (harp) sound on the first text. But if I leave the conversation page open, each additional text gives only a swoosh sound which is too insignificant to hear.
