WiFi VS The Ethernet Connection

When you connect to a WiFi Connection, must you also unplug the Ethernet cable to be on the WiFi, or what must you do, because I was experimenting with my smartphone HOT SPOT connection, and it was connected, with a strong signal, but I appeared to be up on the Ethernet instead, till I unplugged that cable.

TIA for answer answers

Check System Preferences->Network. Is the ethernet connection at the top of the list? If it is, all network access will default to that. If you want to change the priority, click the little icon pointed to in the screen shot and then select "Set Service order". Be sure that your hot spot is connected before doing that.

Then, when you are not connected to the hot spot, your internet connection will drop to the next active connection on the list.

With me, both my Wife'd Verizon HOT spot & my T-Mobile Hot spot Speed tests faster, but I only can get where we live, with AT&T, 18Mbps, is what I pay for, but actually get near 23. With the Cell HOT SPOTS, in the mid 30s.

Well near OFFLINE, Dr. appt. time. Y'all have a great day, Bye

Hi Matti
I do not have a faster Wi-Fi network or Hotspot to test, so I can only test Ethernet and Wi-Fi coming from the same modem/router. To answer what I think your question is... Yes it does always default to the faster service which is Ethernet, when both are available.
