Memory pressure too high - how to reset?

I just got my macbook pro a few weeks back (8GB), and ive been getting constant messages on too much memory used. I'm sure there is an issue because just on launch Chrome is already racking up 6GB of memory usage!

The Command + Option + P + R trick to reset NVRAM doesn't seem to work anymore.. any ideas?

A restart always flushes RAM.

Relentless as in a coulple of GBs, or always 6-7GB ++? Thats crazy

You are right...it is crazy. Tell Google how you feel. Chrome also seems to be a hog on Windows computers.

However, any browser can go rogue with too many browser extensions/plug-ins, or the wrong ones. Are you running any anti-virus software? Any so-called "cleaning" apps?

There is emerging evidence that having more than one ad blocker running can cause browser slowdowns. Figure out which one you love the most and escort the other to the exit.

Macs, catlike, clean themselves and have for 20 years. Most of the bad performance reports we see are due to useless AV and "cleaning" apps. They interfere with elegant automated protection that you paid Apple to build into the system.
