FaceTime call at HomePod mini

My device is an iPad WiFi, my family member added me into the Home. Our HomePod mini can recognize my voice and my personal requests. When I ask Siri (HomePod) to make a FaceTime call to my contact, it responses "OK, making a FaceTime audio call to XXX" but don't know why the audio always goes to my iPad instead of our HomePod mini.

KaoKuCheung,

Thanks for the photo. Use HomePod for phone calls tells us you should be able to use it for FaceTime audio calls. So, let's take a look at some of the settings. See the section, "Set up Personal Requests" found in Set up HomePod to make sure you have the settings you need.

Another good article to look at would be Make Personal Requests on HomePod for more information.

Have a great day!

Hi KaoKuCheung,

We’ll be glad to lend a hand with your HomePod and phone calls.

If we understand, you are asking Siri to make a FaceTime call, the HomePod responds, but the call goes to your iPad.

It’s sending the call to your iPad since it’s FaceTime. It needs to use the iPad for the FaceTime for video. If you want, you can switch the audio back to the HomePod after your FaceTime call has connected. See HomePod User Guide - Use HomePod for phone calls for details

If you ask Siri to make a call, the call will stay with the HomePod.

Let us know if you have further questions.

Cheers!

Hi Mingoslkd,

You are very welcome! If you have checked all your settings, and they are correct, you have been removed and added back to the HomePod, verified making audio FaceTime calls work with others using the HomePod then we recommend contacting Apple Support Advisors to see if they have additional steps to try. They can be reached by going to Get Support.

Let us know anytime you have questions.

Take care!

Hi Mingoslkd,

Thanks for your response! I can make personal requests such as create calander event and I've verified the settings by follow the information provided. I also asked the Home Owner to remove me and invite me again.

I just invited my another family member to try to ask Siri (HomePod) to make a FaceTime audio call, the audio remains at the HomePod as expected.
