Sophos Removal

When I transferred my files from my old MacBook Pro apparently something from an old Sophos anti-virus software was transferred. Now Sophos Endpoint has set itself up as a system administrator with an unknown (to me) password. I have searched the Sophos website articles and spent about two hours with Mac support without finding the problem or being able to remove endpoint. can anyone offer any solutions? Thanks

This may be a drastic suggestion but it’s a tried and tested procedure which has been used for many years on both Macs and PCs.

  • Back up your system
  • Perform a clean install without migrating any files.
  • Confirm that the clean install is running without issues.
  • Start to install apps one at a time with a period of testing before installing the next.
  • If an app is causing problems you can try and uninstall it.
  • If you can’t uninstall the rogue app you can always repeat the clean install without installing the rogue app.
  • This procedure is a good way of getting rid of junk apps which are no longer used.

Tend to agree with the good advise presented by @ Mal-S and make a clean install without any type of migration.

From personal experience and observations over the years - Migration from Old to New in Theory works and woks as intended.

This whole operation of migration is predicated on the old not having Unresolved Software issue existing on the Old System.

As one has experienced., the slightest issue on the old will migrate to new and effectively Pollute an otherwise pristine and virginal installation of the new OS.
