How can I reset the airport extreme when the reset button is broken.
There is a way to reset the AirPort Extreme back to its factory default settings without using the reset button.
Does your Mac have an Ethernet port? If it does, (and the AirPort Extreme is not defective) you can connect an Ethernet cable from the Mac to one of the three LAN <--> Ethernet ports on the back of the AirPort Extreme and access the settings on the AirPort that way.
Open AirPort Utility on your Mac (Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility)
Click on the AirPort Extreme to select it
Click Edit in the smaller window and enter the admin password for the AirPort Extreme if required
Click on the Base Station menu.......up at the very top of the Mac's screen where you see the other menus like File, Edit, Help, etc
Click on Restore Default Settings to reset the AirPort Extreme back to its original factory default settings, so that you can configure it again for another purpose
Note......If the reset button on the AirPort Extreme is stuck or broken......and not repaired......you will need to use the same above procedure if you need to reset the AirPort Extreme again.
