Watching purchased movies on 2017 LG TVs

I want to buy a movie and watch it on my 2017 LG smart TV. The support page (below) seems to suggest the LG Apple app on 2017 models is quite limited. My reading of the help is that I can only stream with Apple+ but I find that almost impossible to believe as there can’t surely be any technical reason to block streaming of purchases. I could obviously make the purchase elsewhere, that’s no issue, I just want to be able to watch on the TV, not my phone :)

Thanks for any insight!

Hello AJP_850, If you just want to watch a movie that is on your iPhone you could use AirPlay. I'm assuming your LG and iPhone are on the same WiFi network. Start up AppleTV app on your iPhone. Next click on Library at bottom of screen to find your movie you want to watch. Click to start the movie. Pause movie then look for the AirPlay icon in lower far left of screen. The AirPlay icon is the widow with the up arrow on the bottom part of icon window. Click on the AirPlay icon and you get another screen showing available connections and you should see you LG TV as one of the connection. Click on it and your movie should start Streaming from you iPhone to your LG TV.
