Reminders slow to or not syncing between iPad and iPhone

If I am looking at the same reminders in my iPhone and ‘dot’ a reminder to complete it, the same does not happen on my iPad and vice versa.

I am on iCloud, same wi-fi, reset both ipad and iphone, have good internet connecting, in fact I have checked and double checked all my settings.

*Apple notes is on both my iphone and ipad, which I use almost hourly. If I update a note from either divice the other updates too in real time, even when reminders are stubbornly not synching.*

How are Reminders supposed to sync? Real Time? Every Hour? When it wants to? Etc.

I have completed one Reminder already today on iPhone but that change is yet to catch up on iPad.

I have been turning off and on my Wi-Fi tethering direct from iPad to iPhone then using 4G rather than my Wi-Fi which sometimes seems to trigger a sync but to date I’ve not found anything definite.

I am also wander if one device being connected to my router’s wi-fi and the other to the wi-fi disk has any effect? By why as apple note sync real time even when that IS the case?

I have uncovered nothing definite or consistent in the areas that I have been checking yet.

Any ideas anyone?

If you perform the specific steps from, If your iCloud Contacts, Calendars, or Reminders won’t sync, do they sync?

"Restart the Contacts, Calendar, or Reminders app

Close the app.
Return to your Home screen.
Wait a minute, then open the app again."

Also, can you clarify what you mean by "Wi-Fi disk?"

Thank You for replying.

Wi-Fi disk is the wi-fi amplifier or booster I have to make the Wi-Fi of where I live reach further. I was wander if one device was on this and the other on the main Wi-Fi would it make any difference. Not that it should because apple notes update real time if that’s the case. Anyway I’ve turned it off forcing all devices to use the same Wi-Fi to rule it out. (As desperate as I am to try and solve the unfathomable)

I have tried your suggestion several time and it doesn’t force a sync at all.

One thing that does cause a sync is forcing my iPad to tether to my iPhone (>settings >Wi-Fi >Personal Hotspot and choosing my phone) which forces that to use 4G rather than wi-fi and it will sync up or at least partly. Why?

I have now gone in to >Setting >iCloud and switched off Reminders to delete them all on my iPad. Waited 15 min then turned off/on iPad then turned Reminders back on.

I am currently waiting for them all to come back from iCloud.

I’ll report what happens and behaviour I get next.

And as strange as this issue started it is now sync ing quickly in real time again.

Did you find a solution for this? I'm having the same issue. Started yesterday, it was not syncing with OSX. I tried everything and nothing seems to work. And, now I did a fresh install on all my devices. I got reminders back on OSX, but now its not working on iPad OS neither on IOS... It's so weird.

I have found nothing concrete at all to explain the sync slowness.

After turning iPad reminders off and back on in >Settings >iCloud they didn’t come back in the 15 mins that I waited.

I then deleted the Reminders App and reinstalled it which made no difference, the reminders did not sync and re-appear in iPad’s Reminder App.

I reset my network settings as well for what it was worth - which was nothing by the look of it.

I then decided to disconnect iPad from my usual home Wi-Fi and reconnected with a *roaming account* and it synced up and they reappeared - all this is nuts and makes no sense !

*roaming account* my ISP provides a facility where you can log in to another customer’s router and use some of their bandwidth at a slower speed. The price I pay is agreeing to open my router up to other customers use in the same way.

To sum up my experienced behaviour so far.

Reminders don’t sync between iPhone and iPad in real time via iCloud (Apple Notes does)
I can kick my iPad to sync its reminders by dropping off my normal wi-fi and connecting to another wi-fi or tether to my iPhone and use iPhone’s 4G
Yes it is crazy and stupid
Yes I have tried everything I know to isolate why
I’d love to know how it works under the bonnet if Apple would tell me

I’m going to play with Lego instead
