iPhone disabled, connect to iTunes

I upgraded to an iPhone 12 and at set up it got stuck on the attempting data recovery. After retrying it for a dozen times now I have the message iPhone in disabled, connect to iTunes.

I'm a digital idiot and can't find iTunes in my Mac (Monterrey 12.1 OS), from what I know iTunes was turned into Music only.

To make things worse, I'm on holidays abroad on Christmas Day and can't do anything without my phone, can't even prove my vaccination status. Please advice!

Hold it Right There!

Enter the passcode incorrectly too many times, and you'd likely be locked out for good. So, hold it right there, and refer to this link: If you Forgot the Passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is Disabled - Apple Support. It would be the one you've always entered. If you do not know it, then look for it in a location you may have stored it in.

No Success?

If you cannot get the above link to work, then contact Apple Support.

Why the Wait:

Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

See this Apple article: If you see a message that says “Your account has been disabled in the App Store and iTunes”
