I created a family child account years ago. I want to give my child their own first.last icloud account but I cant because the family account is seen as a child and cant be removed until they're 13. Help!

It is correct that a child account cannot be just removed from a Family Sharing group, but there is the option to move them to a different Family Sharing group, or delete the account. Information on that here: Move a child to another group using Family Sharing
