Troubleshooting Lost Photos:

Try iCloud:

A. Sync through iCloud:

Was Photos enabled in iCloud Settings on this iPhone you lost? If so, enable Photos in iCloud on your other Apple devices, and see if the data shows up. If your iPhone has items synced with iCloud on them, then they should pop right up.

Enabling iCloud Photos on an iPhone:

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: Your Name (Top Item)
  3. Tap: iCloud
  4. Tap: Photos (so that it is green)

B. Check iCloud, Directly:

You can check iCloud, using a Web browser on another device, and see if you can access them that way. For instance, go here for Photoshttps://www.icloud.com/photos

Other Things to Try:

A. Start here: If you're Missing Photos or Videos in the Photos app - Apple Support

B. Check iCloud, Directly:

Go here, and see if they reside in iCloudhttps://www.icloud.com/photos

C. Where Else to Check:

  1. PC
  2. PDA
  3. eMail
  4. Mac Device
  5. Cloud Storage
  6. Android Phone
  7. USB Flash Drive
  8. External Hard drive
  9. Secure Digital Card
  10. Compact Flash Card

The web interface to iCloud Photos is just a limited stand-by to give us access to our photos, when we are away from from our own devices and have to borrow someone else's devices, to see our photos.

We can see the photos and videos, the titles, even change the titles, but we cannot see the smart albums and the keywords, the details about the camera, the lens, etc. We cannot add adjustments to the photos.

If you find yourself frequently restricted to having to use the web interface to access your photos library, you should prepare it in advance for an easy navigation - add titles to the photos (if you have a Mac) and structure the library with folders and albums. The titles will allow you to use the text search on the web page to find photos based on the titles, as the titles are shown below the thumbnails, when you are viewing All Photos, the folders and albums will allow you quick access to subsets of the photos from the sidebar with the albums.
