Iphone frozen on "trust' "don't trust" screen after I tried to sync to Mac

I tried to sync my Iphone 10 to my computer. It is frozen at the prompt "Trust" and "Don't Trust." I can't turn it off or do anything else.

Force a restart with the buttons: Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Then try the pairing/trust again.

I’d probably reboot the Mac, too.

Went to apple store. Had me take it out of the case. Then we could do a restart.

It' won't let me restart using the buttons. The slider pops up but I can't use it cuz the screen is frozen. I can't do anything from the phone screen.
