Alert tones

I read where we can’t change notification sounds for third party apps even though android can easily. What time do the 3rd party apps use? Is it the selected text tone on the iPhone etc??

Can apps such as duolingo send sound notifications which are the iPhones default text tone without being manually set to do this? Trying to locate a phantom default “note” sound. Only app that I had a badge from was duolingo but usually duolingo uses their own sounds but is it possible that they can use the default iPhone text tone to send you a notifcation sound without me having changed this setting?

It is whatever the 3rd party app chooses to use.
