‘No playable files’ in Comand system 2012 MB with iPhone 12

2012 Benz gives error ‘no playable files’ under ‘media interface’ when plugged in via lightening/30 pin device. Had this issue in past. Tried loading U2 album which was free a few years back. I read this was a fix for this particular problem, and it worked, and this was the reason Apple gave this album for free when Music app launched. Apparently, there has to be a song in library to make the rest of the features work. I tried this, and dang, if it didn’t start working! iPhone 12 started working properly! Stopped yesterday. No U2 or Apple Music app! I swear this car/phone are possessed.

Am currently updating to 15.1.2.

Does any of this even sound legit?!

I added a few songs into my Apple Music app - idk where my husband’s entire library went to that we share. Anyway, this fixed my issue - I can now listen to my audiobooks via my Comand set-up, the way it was intended to work!

Again,, I have no idea why having a song in the Music app makes my audiobooks play, but it’s ‘fixed the problem’ on 2 separate occasions. Hope this helps others.
