MabookAir M1 USB C Port not recognized/charge

Intermittently, MabookAir M1 Macbook USB C Port not recognized/charge. Only way to resolve is to restart the MacBook Air. Apple Tech Support cannot resolve or even address issue as their suggestion involves (1) Restart in SafeMode and (2) Reset SMC chip. (a) Restarting computer in of itself resolves the issue and (b) there is no SMC chip to reset as the link tech support sends acknowledges that there is no SMC chip in the M1; the SMC function is embedded in the M1 chip. This should be a know issue for Apple as others have reported the same. What if anything is Apple doing to address/resolve this issue? At the very least, Apple tech Support should be aware of the issue and stop recommending steps which are not effective.

This was reported with MacOS 12.0.1 and was said to be fixed with updating to MacOs 12.1, so if you haven't updated you should do so.
