Recommended iPhone upgrade from SE 2020

All - total techno moron here. This is more a recommendation that support question, hope that's OK.

I'm looking to upgrade from an iPhone SE 2020. I'm quite keen on waiting out for the iPhone 14 whenever that is launched, in the event it has a TouchID/home button/flat rear camera which I like. So am looking for a decent stop gap between now and then. I'm looking for better battery life that the SE 2020, and a better camera experience.

My budget would be about £600 for the handset. Happy to consider decent quality refurbished.

So what would you go for? Is the iPhone 11 a noticeable upgrade from the SE2020? Or is the XR a better option. I could probably stretch to a used 12, but again, is that worth the extra push?

Appreciate any advice,

The SE2020 is the only iphone with a home button and touch ID.

The 14 will not have it and you will need to wait until the autumn.

If an SE2022/3 is ever released it is unlikely to have a home button.

Expect future iphones to be larger format with lumpy cameras .

Stopgap? iphone 12 mini are still available from £579 but they are very different from SE.

Even my "ancient" iPhone8 still works, and does take iOS15. I find "money in the bank" a comforting thought and a stopgap takes some of that money. If "stopgap" is your only argument, my advice is to stick with the SE2020. When it stops serving your needs or the next generation of phones is available and too tempting, then change.

For the record, I do need a phone that can have 2 phone numbers so a jump from iPhone8 to iPhoneSE is required.
