I have tried to move a file into a folder but it won"t happen. I went to file>get info, unlocked the lock on user permissions. I thought that I was the administrator since I am the only one who uses my computer.

I am using a Macbook Pro and cannot use the drag and drop to organize files. Changing the permissions on read and write next to my name, in the file menu did not help. I am signed in to the mac under my name. I am the only one to use my mac, shouldn't I be the administrator?

Where are you trying to move the file? You can only modify items located within your own home user folder. Areas outside of your home user folder are reserved for macOS system use only which is locked even to administrators for enhancing system security.
