Permission to acces folders

recently migrated to new MacAir. Unable to gain access to files in folder. get msg saying I need permission. How do I get permission?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.0

Folder Permission (unable to rename/add) Hey everyone, this is my first time posting on here. I'm an avid and loyal mac user, over 12 years now. The past 12 months I've been unable to rename or add new folders. No matter what I do, change permissions etc , I keep receiving the following message. "The folder can't be open because you don't have permission to see it? I click open my Macintosh HD - open users folder-thank open user name folder - there are many folders a few with a red button with an minus sign ! I try to open one of these folder wiht minus sign only to get the following message: "The folder Documents can't be open because you don't have permission to see its contents." What gives? There are a few other folders that give me this same message!

Big Sur permissions apply to enclosed items greyed out Hello all... Climbing the mountain for all the advice I can get. Why is it then On Catalina, Apply to enclosed items works and Big Sur is all grey. I copy between Macs all day long... Yet some folders I have admin access, on both macs, but the permissions are a mess on the Big Sur Home level. For Catalina I have been able to align the home directory... all perms are the same. Me, Staff, Everyone, Admin. on Big Sur, Surly not. How then does one align one's home directory. Best to all.
