do I need to swap the sim card from my old phone to the new one?

iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 15

Depends.


If you had your carrier give you a new SIM card for the new iPhone, or you used the cellular setup within the iPhone to setup your service and number on an eSim, then no, you don't need to transfer the sim card from the old iPhone.


If you haven't down any of these things, and there is no service on the new iPhone, then yes, transfer the SIM card form thew old iPhone to the new one. Do note some carrier may have to issue a new SIM card to make use of their 5G networks however.
