Playing Apple Music from a Cellular Apple Watch 7 to AirPods 3rd generation, why does the music stop when in range of my iPhone.

When I connect AirPods 3rd generation to my Apple Watch cellular series 7 I can listen to my Apple music just fine if not in range of my iPhone 11 pro but if I get in range of the iPhone 11 pro why does the music stop playing? I have a cellular watch so I can get messages and calls while my iPhone stays home and I go out for fitness activities while playing a certain playlist and once it cuts out in range of iPhone because I passed the house I can't get Siri to resume the same playlist so I was wondering why it even stops, I can't find a setting to stop playing when in range on iPhone or do I need to turn off Bluetooth on iPhone? The iPhone doesn't start playing the music so it isn't passed to the iPhone 11 pro and my 2nd generation AirPods didn't do this.

Hi there kreg56,

It sounds like your AirPods are no longer playing audio when in range of your iPhone.

When this occurs, do they show connected on your Apple Watch?

If not, they may have switched to the iPhone. Learn more here: Switch your AirPods to another device

This page may also help: If your AirPods won't connect

We hope this helps.

Yes, thank you for your help, I have started to turn off Bluetooth on the iPhone when not using it, I didn't have this problem before with the 2nd generation Airpods switching to another Apple device but I have an iPad too which also has Bluetooth that the Airpods 3rd generation don't switch too. Glad there is an easy solution, thank you very much.
