MacBook Pro 2021 M1 crackling sound from Apple TV app

I removed Mos application from autostart. It helps. Now i forced to start Mos manually because without it scrolling works bad.

Apparently fixed on my 14'' MacBook Pro M1 with the upgrade to 12.6

I did what you mentioned and so far it's working great!

The only thing I did differently, to prevent any problems, is to rename the files instead of directly deleting them. I even noticed that the quality of the speakers improved.

For now I'm only going for 48 hours of testing, hopefully this is the final solution.

Well, after trying several days, the problem is still there. Maybe less often than before, but it still does.

I have a MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021).

The Audio Midi Setup Utility format was already set to 48000 Hz. I changed it to 88,200 Hz and actually 96,000 Hz seems to have the same effect. This immediately reduced the number of cracked sound pops, now happening much less than several times a minute.

This really shouldn't happen with an Apple product and even more an Apple Macbook Pro M1.

Hope Apple takes this one serious and brings out a solid fix.

I tried a different user account as well and did not experience audio problems either, for a couple of weeks. Then as I started gradually migrating from the original account, the noise came back. That also suggests it is a setup or config issue.

The noise started for me right out of the box last Fall. Apple support suggested I take the device into the store to have techs look for a hardware issue, but after discovering this thread, I declined.

Open Music and check if the equaliser is switched on or off. If on, switch it off. I did this last night, for the more general clicking and flatus ceased immediately. I re-activated and the flatus returned. The equaliser is off now, and, so far, no noise distortions. Fingers crossed.

The tip about setting the audio to 48,000 Hz fixed the issue, but I'm curious as to why we even have to do that. Is it possibly just a software issue, or could there be more to it? Thanks!

I went into the genius bar today, they are sending my 16'' M1 Max 32gb in for a hardware fix. 3-5 days before it'll be back. I hope this will fix it.

I have just run the update, set the hz back to 44100 and it appears to be ok so far......

Since updating to 12.3.1, I haven't had any popping or crackling in watching video or just audio files. Fingers crossed, it has been addressed.

I got the same issue, but since this morning and 12.4 MacOs' upgrade the crackling seems to disappear... I will continue testing...

Do you use Safari in rosetta mode? if yes try in native mode.

Also update all apps to universal if possible

12.5.1 seems to have made a difference here too. So far, at least; almost two weeks now.

I too can confirm the same issue with the MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chip. As others have said, changing to 48000 worked. No clue why this suddenly became an issue, but thank you for sharing the workaround!
