Apple Watch 7 - cannot hear voice on calls

Intermittently cannot hear others on calls, but the other person can hear me. I've unpaired/repaired; shut phone & watch down and restarted; os is up to date on phone and watch.

F.Dude,

You're certainly welcome. We're happy to point you in the right direction from here.

Have you checked to see if there is water in the microphone? Try placing the device speaker-side down on a lint-free, microfiber cloth to see if any water drips out. Water in the microphone port can degrade performance until it's all evaporated. Allowing your Apple Watch to charge overnight might help speed up evaporation.

Let's also make sure Silent Mode and Do Not Disturb are both off by swiping up on the watch face to open Control Center.

If those steps don't seem to help, and restarting or unpairing and pairing your Apple Watch again doesn't help, the next best step is to have it inspected by a technician. The links below will help you get started:

Hi there F.Dude,

Thanks for joining us in Apple Support Communities! We understand the person on the other line can't hear you during phone calls on your Apple Watch. We're glad you're here, and we'd like to learn more to see how we can help.

To begin, you'll want to be sure your Apple Watch and iPhone are both running the most current software versions available, watchOS 8.3 and iOS 15.2. You can check the version on both devices by navigating to Settings > General > About. If needed, learn more about updating your Apple Watch and iPhone here:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Update your Apple Watch

Next, check the microphone and speaker on your Apple Watch to be sure nothing is blocking them. Learn more about cleaning your Apple Watch here:

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers.
