Finder does not show files on current folder, but it does on "This Mac"

Help, please - first time here. I just purchased a new M1 Macbook Pro. I had an old Pro- early 2013. I migrated using migrate assistant from the old to the new Mac. (I was on Mojave on the old Mac - yes, I never upgraded - crazy)

First, I used to be able to just open up my internal hard drive and put folders in there. I can't do that anymore. Can someone let me know why and if you can, let me know how?

Second, when I use the finder, my search shows files, folders, etc on "This Mac", but if I use the "Current Folder" option, no search files show up. Again, don't know why, but if someone can help me, I would really appreciate it. (see attached screenshots)

NOTE: not sure if this means anything, when I migrated - all my client file folders, images, etc, were placed in a "Relocated Items" folder. So the only thing on the internal hardrive are the folders, library, system, user, and applications.

Other than that, so far so good, and loving the new Mac.

Thank you, happy holidays ~ Chito

Follow-up to my post. Please note that my situation was on a new machine following a 'Migration' from a 2019 Apple to the 2022 model.

After a day or so (?) and several reboots as I updated things to Monterey, did some application updates, updated passwords, etc., 'Finder' just started behaving normally.

So, here's a plausible, but purely speculative, hypothesis. Maybe post-Migration, the new machine needed to build its own internal massive cross-reference. (According to BackBlaze, it's backing up 7,270,226 files on this machine.) If the indexing was happening in some low-priority state--because of everything else I was doing on the machine--it may have taken 'some time' for the indexing to complete. (No idea how long.) In any event, Finder now works as expected.

So, in my situation, the Apple machine eventually established 'normal behavior' on its own. Anyone else see anything similar?

Thank you for the response. That did not work either. I turned off File Sharing since it's connected to my old Macbook and that made it work. Not sure if that fixed it. We shall see.

I still can't move a folder in my internal hard drive or make a new folder.

It's only important since that's how I am used to working. Right now, just doing workarounds until I figure it out.
