My MacBook Pro went to a black screen and now I don’t know if it’s on or off. I’ve tried to reboot several times.

Not sure what to do. Black screen and will not restart even doing a hard restart

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.13

Can you hear the start up chime when turning on? Is the keyboard light working? Try to connect an external monitor to see if there is a screen displayed. You can also reset PRAM and SMC, just to be on the safe side.

If you see a screen on the external display, you know that the issue is very likely either on your LCD or the display data cable.
