Can’t open my iPad forgot iCloud password

I’m texting from my I phone but the problem is with my I pad it’s been off for about a year due to forgot I cloud password. On my phone I recently changed the iCloud password thought it would open my I pad but didn’t so I can’t get my iPad to operate lost iCloud passcode

Are you referring to the password to your Apple ID (iCloud) OR are you referring to the passcode that you use to unlock your iPad to get to the Home Screen?

If you are referring to the former, then Click ➔ If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support

If you are referring to the latter then, You will have to reset the passcode to your iPad by following the instructions in this guide published by Apple ➔  If you forgot the passcode or if your iPad has been disabled. You will need a computer to execute this procedure and all the data on your iPad will be erased.
