I guess it would depend on the store and its current policies. An appointment is recommended and I’ve personally gone into an Apple Store without an appointment and been told I needed one or I could come in at opening the next day and be placed on a waiting list. Then again I went to another Apple Store and got help but had to wait over an hour.
