iPhone13 - wrong album covers after 1st time synching with iMac

Hi,

can anyone help me with above problem? I looked up whether other people have the same issue. I found some comments, but never a good solution. On my iMac all the album covers are correct in iTunes. Just when I bought the new iPhone 13 and synched it first time, all the album covers on the iPhone are wrong. Are there any solutions to this problem?

I think mine fixed itself via the following steps:

  1. In Finder, open Sync Settings for the iPhone 13
  2. In Music tab, unselect "Sync music onto iPhone 13".
  3. Click Apply. Wait a bit for music to disappear from iPhone. I still had a handful of single tunes that I had bought through Apple that remained, with incorrect artwork. I ignored them.
  4. Re-checked the Sync music onto iPhone 13 box.
  5. Clicked Sync.
  6. The albums began to reappear on my iPhone, with the correct artwork.
  7. The Purchased music album art appeared to be corrected, too.

I had the same problem and solved it simply as follows. This assumes you don't have any music only on your iPhone that you want to keep, i.e. you want to replace everything on your iPhone with what's on your Mac:

1. Uncheck "Sync music onto X's Phone", let it resync with the phone.

2. (Optional) If for whatever reason there's anything left in your Music app, delete it from your phone (Settings -> General -> iPhone Storage -> Music), then left swipe on All Music to show a Delete button.

2. Click Delete App to delete the actual Music app.

3. Reinstall the app from the App Store.

4. Check the "Sync music onto X's phone" again, and let it copy over all the music.

This should result in all your music back on the phone, with the correct album art.

I deleted my music on the iphone and synchronized once more with my iMac. Unfortunately I had the same result. I am seeing for every album a wrong album cover and for every song a different wrong album cover. Is anyone else having this problem when they are synching from an iMac (itunes) their music to an iPhone 13? Thanks for any help.

I understand it would be too much of a pain to change all your albums. It might be useful to others to know if this issue applies to iTunes. Maybe just try it on one album and let us know if it changes anything? FYI I have an iPhone 13 mini and didn’t notice this issue on my old phone. I have a hard time believing it’s the phone and not an app upgrade that’s caused the issue but you never know. Regardless Apple should address this.

I deleted the itunes app on my iPhone 13 and downloaded it again from the app store. Then I synchronized the phone with my iMac. It is getting better. The result is now that most album covers for the single songs are correct. The ones that are not correct show most of the time no cover at all. BUT more or less all album covers are wrong. Again all single songs and album covers on my iMac are the correct ones. It looks to me that the itunes app on my phone is the problem. You are right, Apple should have a look at it.

thank you for your comment. Looks like Apple hasn't solved the issue. Since early January when I started this thread, I deleted several times again the iTunes app on my phone, downloaded it again and synched it with my iMac. I am getting always the same result:

single song covers are mostly correct

Album covers are all wrong

it is extremely annoying seeing the wrong album cover when I flipp through my playlists. it is very confusing.

thank you for your answer and that you found a solution to the problem. Unfortunately, your solution will not help me as I have my music library on my iMac hard drive and never had it in iCloud or any other cloud. As single song covers and album covers are correct on my iMac, I assume the reason might be that the music app from Apple on the iPhone 13 doesn't function properly.

I think I agree that tie iOS 15.4 upgrade may be part of the problem. My iPhone 13 was fine and all my album artwork was synced perfectly until I upgraded to 15.4. Since then some of the artwork is correct and some is incorrect and, like others on this thread, my music is stored on my mac mini and I have way too much to go song by song or artist by artist and I also have some older music I uploaded which can't be replaced easily. Apple needs to correct this issue.

I bought my iPhone 13 at the begin of October 2021. I can't remember since when we have iOS 15 whether this is the reason or maybe the itunes app on the phone. But as this thread proves it seems to be a problem that many people have. Even after half a year I still find it very annoying to see wrong album covers for my albums. It is very irritating. Apple fix it finally!
