Ejecting Hard drive
Hi, When I try to eject my WD Passport hard drive it says it didn't eject because it is in use. How do I shut down the drive?
MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.0

I have the same problem and absolutely nothing is running. The drive may or may not eject after an hour or so of trying. My external drives are WD Passport 1TB. I have six identical drives and two won’t mount at all one takes fifteen minutes to mount and three mount ok but then sporadically won’t eject. All of these worked fine before updating to the latest Monterey OS.
You need to shutdown any app that is making use of the drive or has files open on the drive.
