Just bought a new magic keyboard for my 2013 (!!) iMac. Paired with Bluetooth successfully, but function keys aren't working - don't seem to be connecting with my iMac. Mac is running current version of Catalina. Anyone else have this problem? I've tried on/off on the keyboard; rebooting; verifying connection through settings. Nothing.

Scroll down. The SMC reset procedure for non-T2 Macs is listed on the same webpage, albeit further down.
Make sure this checkbox is unchecked:

I’d probably also reset the NVRAM ➡️ Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
