Can you check if I have a lost iPhone replacement policy?

My name is Vicki F. I have an iPhone 12 mini that I purchases in the Westchester store in NYS. I’d like to pick up a replacement in the Albany Apple store today. Do I need an appointment?

If you did I think you would know unless someone else bought the AppleCare+ Theft and Loss policy on your behalf if it was a gift. As far as I know that requires a claim that is processed by the insurer, which is AIG. There's a deductible ($149), and it appears that the only way to receive a replacement is that it gets shipped by Apple after AIG processes and approves the policy claim. I also believe that when there's a lost or stolen claim, Apple will make sure that the replaced phone is bricked if it ever connects to the internet.
