Use AirDrop without WIFI

I have a wired internet connection and have wifi permanently turned off for that reason. I want to make use of the AirDrop feature though. If I turn on wifi, then the wireless connection for the Mac will take precedence over the wired connection and slow down my up- and download speed.

Therefore, how can I use AirDrop without having to turn on wifi and slow down my connection?

I read suggestions to delete the SSID of the home network to keep the Mac from connecting via wifi while having wireless turned on. Problem is if I do that, then the iCloud Keychain deletes the SSID on my other iOS devices too - but there I need it.

In Network System Preferences, at the bottom of the Service list, choose Set Service Order… from the ellipsis popup menu.

Put Ethernet above WiFi. The OS will "home" on the topmost service that has internet service.
